International Day for Biological Diversity - 2026

International Day for Biological Diversity – May 22
Today, as the world marks International Day for Biological Diversity, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting Rwanda’s rich ecosystems, wildlife, forests, wetlands, and natural heritage.
At SAVE THE RWANDAN ENVIRONMENT AND BIODIVERSITY (SREB), we believe that biodiversity is not only the foundation of healthy ecosystems but also essential for sustainable development, climate resilience, food security, and future generations.
Rwanda’s biodiversity is a treasure that must be protected through:
Environmental conservation
Wildlife protection
Reforestation and ecosystem restoration
Sustainable natural resource management
Community engagement and environmental education
Every species matters. Every ecosystem counts. The actions we take today will determine the environmental future we leave behind.
Together, let us protect nature, restore ecosystems, and build a greener, more sustainable Rwanda.
“Harmony with nature and sustainable development begin with collective responsibility.
