About Us

Save the Rwandan Environment and Biodiversity (SREB) is a National Non–Governmental Organization created on 2nd July, 2020 in accordance with the Law no 004/2012 of 17/02/2012 governing the organization and functioning of national non-governmental organizations.

Objectives

1. To protect environment

To help people to get fruit seeds that can be mixed with other plantation and make follow up for their growth

To help people to adapt to climate change

To help people to plant various types of forest trees and make follow up for their growth

To help people to create ditches, their usual maintenances and plant trees on their edges

To raise awareness on various ways of safeguarding lakes, rivers, and swamps

To raise awareness on various ways to stop and control atmospheric emissions

To raise awareness on various ways of protecting the ozone layer and atmosphere in general

To create radical terraces

To raise awareness and help people use cooking gas to avoid yearly deforestation

2. Biodiversity conservation

To Plant local flowers, fruits, and vegetables

To help flowers’ farmers to find modern flower seeds

To fight against the use of unqualified pesticides products and help in pesticide control and management

To help beekeepers to get modern hives and plant flowers for bees

Treatment of wild animals when they get injured

To bring back wild animals and plants where they were disappeared

To fight against hunters

To raise awareness on protecting habitats of wild animals and its role

3. To train people on how to make valuable things from wastes

To help people to create home modern dumps

To help people to know how to collect wastes by separating degradable and non-degradable wastes

To teach people how to make animal food from various types of waste materials

To make fertilizers from waste materials

To make valuable materials from waste materials

4. To fight against the use of plastic materials

To raise awareness on various effects of plastics to humans and animals

To teach the proper ways of collecting plastic materials when they get old

To train people on how to make materials that can replace plastics

Biodiversity Protection and Restoration in the Rugeramigozi II Buffer Zone

SREB is actively working to protect and restore degraded biodiversity within the buffer zone of Rugeramigozi II, with a strong commitment to conserving ecosystems and promoting sustainable environmental management in the area.

Community Awareness on Environmental Protection

SREB actively raises community awareness on environmental protection by educating people on practical ways to safeguard the environment, as well as the consequences of environmental degradation. Through these awareness initiatives, communities are empowered to take informed and responsible actions that contribute to sustainable environmental conservation.
